A private investigator (also known as a private detective) is a man or woman who collects and analyzes data, often for the purpose of solving or preventing an unlawful act or crime. It is often thought that a private investigator or private detective should be a former police officer. Nothing could be further from the truth. The most famous detectives often turn out to have a completely different background.
In order to become a private detective in Belgium which is recognized by the Ministry of the Flemish Community (Ministerie van de Vlaamse Gemeenschap) and by the Flemish Institute for Self-Employed Entrepreneurship (Vlaams Instituut voor het Zelfstandig Ondernemen), you must follow training at a recognized training institute. Depending on the Belgian institute, this training lasts 1 to 2 years. You then have to go to school on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. However, through a training at our institute it is possible to complete this training in just 4 months!
How it works?
The Belgian government has recognized the Dutch Private Investigator ECABO-diploma – by a Royal Decree. This means that if you have the Dutch diploma, you do not have to follow the entire training in Belgium. In that case, you will be exempted from the following modules:
- Socio-psychological education (44 hours)
- Professional training (84 hours)
- Practical exercises (120 hours)
In short, you will receive an exemption for more than 248 hours if you are in possession of the Dutch diploma. In Belgium, you only need to follow the Legal Training module. In that case, you do not have to go to school in Belgium two evenings a week, but you will receive the fully recognized Private Investigator diploma (Prive Detective), just like any other Belgian student who has followed the entire training program. To enable you to obtain the Dutch diploma as quickly as possible, we have developed a 4-day accredited training especially for our Belgian students. You attend classes for four Saturdays, after which you go for the Dutch exam immediately. After you have passed the Dutch exam, we immediately request an exemption for the Belgian lessons. In this way you not only save a lot of time and money, but you also have a Dutch and Belgian recognized diploma. With this diploma you can immediately start working throughout Europe.
During the training you will be taught by qualified private investigators who have more than 15 years of experience. They have worked as detectives on highly controversial cases at home and abroad on behalf of private individuals, law firms and governments. They are still working behind the scenes on current cases around the world. In addition to a Dutch and American diploma, these detectives also have a Belgian diploma so that the lessons perfectly match the lessons that will be provided later in Belgium.

There was sufficient personal attention, which made it possible to go deeper into matters that I am confronted with during my work."

Course: Private Investigator
Review: "After having worked in the transport sector for a long time (29 years), it was time to take on a new challenge. There has been a great interest in being able to work as a private researcher for some 10 years now. Since I have a lot of experience as a national or international driver, I have seen and experienced a lot in this transport industry. Things that are neatly in order, but also things about which I, as a sober person, had my doubts and my premonition has never let me down.
For myself, I decided at the beginning of 2014 to take the plunge and actually do something with it. After a good informative work about a private researcher training that would suit me, I came into contact with the I.A.C.A, in Breda. After a first conversation I immediately had a good feeling about this, and felt myself taken seriously.
After clear information at the beginning of 2014, I got a good impression of the Private Investigator training to follow at the I.A.C.A in Breda. I absolutely do not regret this.
The teaching material in the textbook was well explained during the 4 theory days, and a lot of attention was paid to personal questions that were clearly answered by the teacher. If you have questions outside of the theory days, you will be answered correctly. In other words, good aftercare!
I can recommend everyone to follow a course at the I.A.C.A. I myself would like to follow a further training and will certainly be at the I.A.C.A in Rijen."

Excellent course!
Course: Private Detective (BE)
Review: "While looking for a private detective training on the internet, I came across the International Anti Crime Academy site. They offer this training here. Since I come from Belgium, this was very interesting because the teaching times at Anti-Crime were considerably shorter here than in Belgium (a few weeks instead of almost 2 years). The lessons were held in Breda, so not that far at all. The reception was fine and the teacher came across as quickly and professionally. They also really try their best to teach you and emphasize the important things. I was even able to make up for a private lesson day because I was absent for 1 day. Even when the lessons were over, I could always count on fast and correct information via email. I passed all the exams the first time. Because I live in Belgium, I now only follow the Legal Education module. However, this is mandatory in Belgium, but are mostly repetitions of what I had already seen at the International Anti Crime Academy. If I were to do it again I would definitely do it this way again."

DO IT!!!
Course: Private Investigator
Review: "Signed up for a course Digital Investigation and Private Investigator Netherlands at the International Anti-Crime Academy. The website already looked promising. The NCIS level is high, but realistic. Full of courage, I set to work on the first (free) Saturday of February in Rijen for the Private Investigator course. A world opened up to me, how interesting is this… well, very interesting. The life of a private investigator is certainly not a bed of roses due to our extensive privacy legislation. The course leader, a friendly large instructor without an accent, while his business partner is indeed from the country where it is good to live, tells with passion and takes us (with my fellow students) into a world of international investigations, research techniques, research methods etc…. The female training coach present is also there throughout the course, busy with her laptop and, if necessary, gives support in some situations that are discussed. She is certainly not unimportant in all this; the hub of the Academy, so to speak. The resulting workbook contains a wealth of information about our legal system, privacy code that we must adhere to and much more. They are very fun and valuable teaching days without us having the feeling that we are so to speak "caught up".
Plenty of questions can be asked and answered correctly. So interaction is very important. The humor also comes into play, after all, the bow cannot be tense for 6 hours. The lunch is excellent. Furthermore, we are well prepared for what is to come: two exams, the first of which will be Multiple Choice. The second exam concerns the open-question method and then it becomes important that the gray brain cells have done their job. So far a good course that I would recommend to everyone if anyone is interested in it. As for the Digital Investigation course: in my case a full two-day private course with the same friendly large ex-marine (without an accent). Let's think in our home, garden and kitchen laptop that we can find everything on the internet?! Well, no….the possibilities are endless. Very interesting to know how and in what ways certain information can be conjured up. I call it magic, because my ears were chattering in astonishment. Here too a good, understandable and fun course of the two days. For the digital literate among us...this course is highly recommended. And for the gourmands; lunch was also excellent.
I sincerely hope that this report will make a contribution to future students who intend to follow the aforementioned courses.
Can only say: DO IT!!!!
